Gila County is located in the central part of Arizona. The county seat is Globe and the area is known for its great mineral wealth.
Gila County contains parts of Fort Apache Indian Reservation and San Carlos Indian Reservation. The San Carlos Indian Reservation is located on over half of the county area.
Gila County has both desert areas and mountain areas within its borders. Over half of the land is owned by the U.S. Forest Service. 37 percent is owned by the Apache Indian Reservation. It contains 3,040,000 acres. |
